where steel guitar players connect
Hello, i am a new member, my name is Chet Wilcox, I build the Wilcox Pedal Steel Guitars, I have built 175 of them , They play very good ,look good, and sound good, i sell them as cheap as i can, I love pedal steel and i know everyone cant afford some of the major brands, the only thing i buy are the legs, pickups and tuning keys, i have recently been using rains fretboards, every thing else i make here in my shop.you all are welcome to come by and play one if i have one at that time, i only build one at a time.most that i build are 3pedals and 4 knee levers. i am not really a company , just an old guy who loves pedal steel.
This is the only pic i could find right now i am on the left.

Permalink Reply by Donny Johnston on April 7, 2012 at 1:43am Chet, Welcome, I have never seen one of your guitars, I live in Scotland, if you manage to get one across the pond I would love to see it, failing that I look forward to seeing some pictures. We have a couple of really good independent one at a time makers over in Britain who make guitars on par with the American manufacturers, Bennett Guitars, & Sheffield Steels are as good as any on the market. Check them out.
Donny, I havent figured out how to load pics yet but i will, I know there are some very good players over there and very good builders also,,Chet

Thank You

Permalink Reply by thomas herman on August 30, 2012 at 11:46am Hello Chet, I bought one of your guitars from Darrell on Ebay. $1,500. Beautiful guitar but I had nightmares with the pedals. They kept breaking and Darrell kept replacing them. Darrel finally discovered the cause, the swivel was 1/2 " off. Unfortunately by this time other things were knocked out of whack so I traded it back to him for a Sho=Bud that is giving me nightmares. Can NOT get this darn thing to stay in tune. Now I've got too much money invested in a bad guitar. On the positive side your guitar sounded great. Welcome onboard.

I appoligize if that's the way you took it. I've been in contact with Darrel and he is nothing but helpful. I've almost got this Sho-Bud in tune. ha ha. Now if I can only learn to play. Keep picking and making those guitars.
