C D E F G A B CC = 1 D = 2 E = 3 F = 4 G = 5 A = 6 B = 7You can look at this many ways.You can just take tones 1, 3, and 5 and flat the 3 and 5.So that would be C, E, and G but you’d flat the E, making it Eb and the G, making it Gb.C diminished = C…Continue

Hi Michael , if you do not use picks you should have strong and well shaped nails, mine are always breaking , so i had to adopt picks , it takes some time and practice , but its not impossible. You have to find the corrects one for your self.As i am in a very remote area , i made them myself. There are a lot of good video tutorials on youtube.I like "Howcast" he is straight to the point, also Mickey Adams.

Michael, I guess some folks dont use picks.  I find that picks give a better tone. You can also get all the G notes on frets 3 and 15 using A and B peddles.

Thank you Henry. I began last night tinkering with G chord form up the neck.

Hardest thing to get used to is right hand picks; seemed easier to me to not use a pick other than on thumb, but want to learn the right way, so I put them back on and started to make less noise hitting the other strings. Yep,

How do I get started? I bought a Carter Starter pedal steel. I am already a semi-pro guitar player with a good understanding of theory. Want to begin with good technique, tuning, etc.

Hi Beverly , start fret 3, strings5-8 with pedal a+b , go down to fret 1 , then release A and lower the E with lever in the same time

Has anyone here bought one of the new Hudson six string pedal guitars?  I'd love so see some feedback from actual players.

I have watched Tony Browne's "Crying Steel Guitar" on YouTube numerous times.  I would like to know how to get those pretty licks from :43 to :47. I can repeat most of the other chords but just can't get those little runs within that section. Can anyone explain how to get that sound?

I noticed it is a ShoBud.  Would that be set up the same as the Mullen?

Jerry Cooper, you might want to check out as a resource for 6 string lap steel. It is mainly geared toward Hawaiian music, but the info is valid for anything. Lots of tips, tab, scales, info on guitars, etc. is also a very good resource.
