'I Won't Mention It Again' is a bit of a paradox for me. As a youngster, I spent 100's of hours listening to Ray Price records so I could study my hero's approach (Buddy Emmons) to pedal steel. In doing so, I became a huge Ray Price fan.
However, this one is my favorite Price song of all time, and it was recorded with NO steel! It has such an incredible melody, I just thought playing that melody on steel was all it needed.
I'm a sucker for a great string section, and I think this song had the most gorgeous string arrangement of any song Ray ever recorded.
Hello Frank, Thanks, I'm sure that the right steel will come along. If you have a regular guitar you might try a nut extention in the mean time so you can have fun intil you find the one you are looking for....John
