Profile Information

Tell us a little about your background
Starting playing Steel Guitar in 1949. Grew up with Jimmy Evans who along with Donald Bodine taught me to play music.
I was hired by Tommy & Goldie Hill to play the Louisiana Hayride in 1952. I lived with their Mother in San Antonio for over two years. She treated me like one of the family.
I backed most of the Hayride Artists while I was there.
I moved to California in 1955 and got a job with Loyd Jones' Town & Country Swing Band. I worked with this band until most of our musicians passed away. That time period was over Forty Years.
Loyd & his son Perry founded the Western Swing Society in 1981 and I was lucky enough to be the 1st one inducted in March of 1982. Since then I have been inducted into Seattle, Southwest & Cowtown Hall of Fames.
I have been working the Western Swing Society monthly meeting ever since.
My band is called "Second Shift", you can see pictires of this band on my web page in the TSGN.
People I have worked or played for is too many to start listing

If I'm Fiddlin in Country or Western Swing band I always request that there be a steel guitar included. I'm currently working with a steel man named Bob "Stoney" Stone. he hasn't played any in the last 4 yrs, but we pulled him out of retirement. He replaces are previous picker who died in a boating accident, this past Nov.
