where steel guitar players connect
Hi steelers:
It's been so long since I've checked my page that I almost just dropped off the radar. Thanks to Hank for posting me as Profile chosen this week. I still don't have any clips I'm ready to share (The ones I would WANT to share,..) but rest assured when I come across a few, up they go. Lately, I haven't been playing the D-10s. I DO have a new SD-10 GFI Ultra which I love very much. I can't say enough great things about this instrument. The most noticeable feature is its light weight. Compared to my MSA Classic D-10 behemoth weighing in at around 120 lbs,...this little GFI is an welcomed piece of kit. I think, in the case, she tips the scales at just kissing 50 lbs. And the tone is delicious. But even there, the chemo has kicked the stuffins right outta me. My friends have been solid by slavin' for me. I think they like calling me "Bwana". But if I can get away with a lap-slab and say, a Polytone or a Roland Cube 40, life isn't as tough for a sickko. In a few more weeks, I get to find out if i get to kep my bladdder or not. So far, there has been shrinkage of the malignant cancer cells. The MRIs and CTs point to some success. Still, that's no guarantee until everyone has a darned good look under the hood before they go to cuttin', guttin' and trimmin'. There's no reason that I can't stay positive,...and keep steelin' through both the best and worst of times. Take care, y'all!

Hey Mike, dont give up on that bladder thing yet. My doctor cut a cancer out of my bladder and then used something called a "BCG treatment flush" for six weeks and it cured me in 2001. What happens is: he squirts a weakened Tuberculosis germ inside the plumbing once a week for six weeks and it attaches to any stray cancer cells that may have been left in there....then it revs up your imune system to kill them both.
I am 79 now and still entertaining at the old folks homes. My only worry is that someday they might not let me back out in the street after the gig is over. ( I am one of them ) I love playing my 6x6 MultiKord and gretsch 5120. I play some humorous stuff and a little Chet/Merle style on the 5120. You can hear some of it if you go Google for: tpicker1111
Best Wishes
